DentBetty helps users get their cars repaired with reliable mechanics at a competitive price. In the past, the process of finding a car repair service was not so easy. Obtaining multiple quotes involved contacting multiple shops. Dent Betty helps car owners get cosmetic damage repaired quickly and at a good price. The user creates an account and uploads a photo of their damaged vehicle along with a few details about the damage. The user can then begin browsing free quotes offered by local repair shops. If the user sees a quote that they like, they can contact the shop and schedule service. Through DentBetty, users can get their cosmetic car damage taken care of at a competitive price.

Andrew Mann came up with the idea behind DentBetty on May 16th, 2008. He was a passionate entrepreneur working on a digital photography platform. At the time, he looked at his car, which had cosmetic damage, and realized that there was the possibility that car owners could have a better option when shopping for repair service. Mann went to work on the original DentBetty, which was launched on July 4th, 2009. Today, the site has evolved without losing its original focus. Users can get competitive car repair quotes without leaving their home or work computer.

Rather than offering up another service selling cars or simply advertising to users, DentBetty has created something very useful. Car owners can share information about their individual repair needs along with a photograph. Competing car repair shops can offer up their best rates for the repair. The user can then schedule service with a shop that provides the best price. The entire shopping process can be done online without picking up the phone or actually going to the shop.

The DentBetty website uses an eye-catching red and chrome color scheme, highlighted by a dark banner and white background. This makes the site easy to read but full of personality. The image of smiling dark haired woman in a red dress and white gloves embodies the site’s personality (giving life to “Dent Betty”). She can be seen throughout the site, along with easy to use tools and navigational links.

Visitors can begin obtaining repair quotes through Dent Betty by supplying their zip code in the large box available along the left side (near the center) of the homepage. The user is asked to upload a photo of their car as well as additional details and contact information. It should be noted that Dent Betty is currently in beta so the network is limited. Some zip codes may not have repair shops available yet. After submitting the information, the user will receive seven quotes. The FAQ states that studies have shown seven quotes are generally sufficient to create an effective marketplace.

There are no subscription fees or other costs associated with the DentBetty website. Even if the user has insurance to pay for their vehicle damage, searching on Dent Betty is free. Users can submit car repair requests as often as they like. The site gives no indication that this will change after DentBetty leaves beta.
